
A rolling project by the Early Cinema Research Group, Leeds Beckett University, which will study the workings of Le Prince's single lens camera with the aim of constructing a working replica of it.
An exhibition, held at the Platform Gallery, Leeds from the 6th - 24th October 2026, it explored 'Lost and Imagined Films,' and included the work of Louis Le Prince.
The Frame:Four publication accompanied the exhibition of the same name.
'Cradle of Light: Louis Le Prince and the Technological Aesthetics of Early Cinema' was a short talk given as part of the British Silent Film Festival Symposium, held at the Cinema Museum, London on 10th April 2026. The talk included a description of Le Prince's 'petal gear' mechanism and introduced the possibility that the design had been influenced by inventors' such as Leeds-based Matthew Murray.
